Network Layer

Three approaches to the network layer To undertake data transactions require some form of communication among participants would like an exchange data and consent. This technology-based network can take three forms. (1) A traditional repository; data warehouse based approach where everyone hooks in. (2) The federated computing network; where the load is shared across multiple computers that talk to each other (3) Protocol based direct P2P solution with no central actor – i.e. where the transactions (data) talk to each other. Use of new technology such as the blockchain and related technology to have a highly distributed embedded in the nature of each data packet and transaction. This comes so far in two flavours; Semantic web ( might be useful for ecosystem one?) and Blockchain based trust protocols (perhaps better for personal data). Describe the advantages and disadvantages of each for a data commons. Hybrid models (for start-up)?
